We adopted Zorro (aka Bubba Zee) just a week ago and he's already such a part of our family. He's such a sweet boy and he was so worth the 90 minute drive. The people at Second Chances were wonderful and I could tell they want make sure that the adopter and pet are a good fit. They love and take care of all their furry friends. Appreciated the medical records that were passed on as well as the fact that they microchip their cats. They have a great facility and if you're looking for a new pet you should visit them!

We adopted our lovable Leo in December 2020. He fit in with our family on day one. He loves to cuddle, loves to play with both our kids and our other dogs. He is very well mannered and relaxed. I cannot imagine not having him as part of our family.

I have always greatly valued animal rescue and had been informally taking in strays for years but I wanted to do more so I started volunteering at Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries in May of 2019. Since then, I have seen firsthand the special care given to each animal, learned SO MUCH from the shelter manager as well as from the founders, and put in lots of time with the hundreds of animals that are helped every year by Second Chance. I have gotten to know some very special people here and greatly value these relationships. The sanctuary is not just a sanctuary to the animals but also to me as well! It has become my home away from home. If I’ve had a stressful day at work or in the outside world, I can come to Second Chance and shift my focus onto something positive. During the pandemic, Second Chance was a constant in an ever-changing world. It is a place that I can feel safe and that the animals can feel safe, some of them for the first time in their lives. Second Chance has become a place of healing for me and for the animals it serves. After seeing how things were done at Second Chance, I gained the knowledge and courage to start my own rescue which has been a dream that I’ve had my whole life. Since starting Hobo’s Home in May of 2020, I have experienced nothing but support from Laura, the shelter manager, as well as from Sue, Jim, and the other volunteers. In this way, Second Chance has really had a ripple effect on me and on the community and I know that ripple will continue for years to come! Thank you, Second Chance!

I started volunteering at Second Chance in January of 2018. When May rolled around I fell in love with a dog that had been returned for the third time, Max. I knew right away he was supposed to be my dog. Max has been my best friend and part of the family for almost three years now. I don't know what I would do without him. I also don't know what I would do without Second Chance. I love going every Sunday and volunteering, it makes my week seeing all the dogs and cats. It makes it even better when I go back and they have been adopted into their forever homes.

We adopted our beloved Batman from Second Chance in June 2019. He's the most unique cat I've ever met (he's more dog sometimes), is always the life of the party and is a total lap baby. We love him so incredibly much and are so thankful to Second Chance for taking him in and allowing us to give him his forever home.
